Visting your loved ones –part 2

It seems that every holiday is full of visits to living facilities for our loved ones and others. When the new year starts, there is a tendency to get distracted by the return to work and forget about these visits.

This year let’s take the time and reach out to our loved ones on a continual basis. A quick stop by is better than no visit. While your there, say hi to the other residents and give them a smile.

These simple habits and offerings can help in many ways. For instance, I once was at a care facility and one of the residents was begging for a soda. I asked the staff if I could get her one and they said yes. The look of joy when she got her Sprite I still remember years later. The resident has long since passed, but I remember her and my children have heard this story. That moment lives on.
