Medicare Coverage Part A

Medicare coverage is generally based on the number of work credits that are earned over the course of employment. In this sense, it functions very much like social security. Part A Medicare is referred to as the Original Medicare and provides coverage for the following services:

Hospital Care
Skilled Nursing Facility Care
Nursing Home Care
Hospice
Home Health Services

You can sign up for Medicare Part A within 7 months of when you first become eligible to enroll in Medicare. If you miss your initial enrollment period, you can sign up between January 1 and March 31 of each year.

The good thing about Medicare Part A is that you are not required to pay premiums.
